Chester Mountaineering Club
A friendly club for
Climbers, Mountaineers and Hill Walkers
If you are interested in Rock Climbing, Mountaineering or Hill Walking, you will find a friendly welcome from like-minded people in the Chester Mountaineering Club.
We run a varied programme of activities including regular outdoor meets both in the UK and abroad, midweek evening climbing at local crags (summer) and climbing walls (winter) and social events. Ski touring and mountain biking also appear in the schedule. The Club has a wide range of members in terms of mountain interests, ages, and climbing standards.
New members are always welcome. For technical activities such as rock climbing or winter mountaineering, the club does not provide instruction for beginners, but once able to operate safely at a basic level, newcomers to the sport will find a wealth of experience within the Club to learn from.
As well as our own hut in Llanberis, beautifully situated on the road towards Snowdon, members have access to three more in the Lake District owned by kindred clubs.
Our Hut in Snowdonia
We have our own hut in North Snowdonia for members to stay overnight for a modest fee as well as being available for BMC Affliated Clubs to book.
The hut was purchased by members over forty years ago so that the club could have a base in Snowdonia. In recent years we have modernised it.
