Privacy NOTICE

Chester Mountaineering Club (CMC) is the controller of Personal Data collected from its members, associate members and others guests using our hut. At all times CMC will manage this data in compliance with the requirements of UK Data Protection Legislation including the UK version of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

This privacy notice sets out what information CMC collects, the reasons for this and how it is used.

PCU Usage and Hut Book. If you stay at our hut (PCU) your name and stay details must be recorded in the guest book. These are stored at the Hut and are visible to all visitors. The Hut Secretary will retain digital copies of these records to reconcile your payments for accounting purposes.

How and why your data is used

Here at Chester Mountaineering Club, we take the privacy of our members’ data seriously and will
only use your personal information for club administration purposes, for communicating with you
about your membership and for making available your contact details to other club members to aid
in the arranging of outdoor pursuits. Any other personal data voluntarily shared with CMC officers in
the form of correspondence is held with your explicit consent.

CMC uses a variety of platforms and applications to store and share your information and these may
change from to time. Data collected form you in our membership forms is always processed in
accordance with our legitimate interests. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that
your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy.

As a BMC-affiliated club we will provide your name, contact details and date of birth to the BMC to administer your membership of the BMC including your combined liability insurance cover. The BMC will use your data to communicate with you about your membership. The BMC will contact you to invite you to create a ‘Member Profile’ which, amongst other things, allows you to set and amend your privacy settings. If you leave CMC, your contact details will be retained by CMC for no longer than necessary after you leave the club. Details of your membership will be retained for 6 years.
